Gearing Up

Today is my last shift and then I have 20-
YES 20! days off. I couldn't be more
excited to have some time off to move and
settle into our new house.
Our furniture-less new house. HA!

I am just really looking forward to getting
into a routine which I know will be short lived
with the summer coming.
We've been out of our house for 8 months.
Without our dogs for 6 of them.
It's been a long haul, but we are so close now.
Very exciting new chapter.

Anniversary Number Three

Every year we head to Emerald Lake Lodge for our
anniversary but unfortunately it was not in
the budget this year. Our house is almost
built and there is nothing about home building
that is easy and stress free including the build up
to close. That being said, we did end up both
taking the day off work and heading to Banff in the
early afternoon. It was a quick trip but it
was nice to spend the day together. Our schedules have
not matched in almost 6 weeks, so we haven't
had a day off together in that long!
We decided to go up to gondola, as neither of us
had been up there before. Not worth the money
if you spend any sort of time in the mountains. If you
don't spend time in the mountains, the gondola
would probably be amazing. The views
are pretty spectacular. After that we hit
up Beavertails and had a delicious fried feast.
Glad we headed home after that though. Fried food
is not so easy on the tummy!
Overall it was an okay day. I think the disappointment
of not being at Emerald Lake ended up bumming
both of us out more than we thought. Oh well.
Hopefully we have many more anniversaries
to spend out at the lodge.

Living Close

About a month or so ago,
I read an article that listed {my fav- lists} things
that make people feel happier in life.
Well some of them were pretty usual
-eat well, exercise blah blah blah
One of them though was the relationship to
commute time and how close you live to work.
Well I can attest that this is true!
I've never been so willing to head to work as I
have the last couple of months.
Now that could be for extra cash, it could
be because it's been a great distraction BUT
what I do know is that knowing you're 10
min from work, makes a HUGE difference.
Maybe next time, we won't buy in the burbs!

Some Days

Yesterday was pretty draining. So this is what I did today.
All day. I seriously jumped from Facebook, to tv shows, to
Instagram alllll damn day.
And then I went for coffee. Which was also needed
and quite delightful!
Thanks for the date Paige!... and for getting
me out of bed.

Whirlwind Week

We are currently in our 4th "home" for the
week. It has probably been the longest week of my
life. It feels like an eternity since last weekend.
We had planned on staying between
my parents and Rhys' parents until our
house was built but because our house
got delayed, it is time to reevaluate our options.
We certainly needed a bit of space to just breathe
and do our own thing so this week we uprooted
and moved to a hotel. After 2 days there, it wasn't working
so off to a different hotel which was really nice.
The Acclaim hotel near the airport was
delightful. Lucky for us, our friends Shandell
and Kent were off to Maui for a week so
they offered us their house which
came to crash this morning. It's
definitely been a weird week, we've been
hauling our own bedding around which has been a
lifesaver. I'm not exactly the best sleeper in the
world so having our own sheets, pillows, and duvet,
has been much easier to adjust to all the different
"homes" we've had.

I sure feel lucky to have friends that help me out
when I'm in a pinch!

Why you so nasty?

I definitely needed a good laugh yesterday
and thanks to Instagram- I got my
laugh. For whatever reason this was the funniest
thing I had seen in so long.
Ahhhh.

No Fizz February

Since we've been bunking with other people,
our pop consumption has been
OUTRAGEOUS.
I decided that I needed to do something
drastic to kick off a little detox.
No pop for February includes juice and
sports drinks. That basically leaves tea, coffee,
and water. I have a feeling I'm going to need
to take out stocks on Perrier.

Gratitude

It always amazes me that life naturally
gives you a boost when you least expect it.
On Tuesday morning @ 0400, I
REALLY did not want to drive
to my parents but by the time I reached
Lethbridge, the sky was opening up into the
most beautiful sunrise. When I turned down the road
the leads to the farm, I actually had to stop.
I felt so grateful to have the sight that some
aren't so fortunate to have in order
to witness such a wonderful morning.

Book 1- The Dovekeepers

I'm being challenged to write what I thought about
this novel. While I enjoyed the read, I think all
the chatter about how amazing this
book was, left me disappointed-
which is AWFUL!
I hate when the book itself wasn't the
let down, it was the anticipation that ended up
getting me. I have to say, this book didn't
"grab" me right from the get go. It wasn't a story
I just couldn't put down. It certainly didn't captivate me.
BUT, as I'm thinking about a review, I'm thinking
of all the parts I loved and how brilliant the
writing was. Each lady had their own story and each
perspective was written just a tad differently which
made the storytelling even that much better.
I loved all of the women and the stories they told.
I just wanted MORE of each of them. Each of
women brought a different dynamic to the story,
and as I'm trying right now to think of who I liked the
best, I actually can't name one.
Anyways, I can't say it was my favorite book I've
read recently but it
certainly wasn't bad!

Keep On

Sometimes I don't know if I even want
to keep this blog going. It actually isn't that
much work, but to be honest... I don't have many
exciting things to chit chat about.
Maybe the blog isn't the issue!!!
I need some hobbies.
I am really looking forward to being in
our new house come March/April.
Then I will have lots of things to share!- well
decorating wise anyways!
In the meantime, prepare for rambling because
I'm going  to keep on, keeping on this blog thing.

Christmas 2014

I was working the Night shift straight though
Christmas this year which if I had to work, nights
are the best shift over the holidays.
I got off around 0630 and headed home.
The roads were empty and the drive was easy peasy.
When I got home, Rhys was already up and at it
{of course} and shortly after Earl was up as well. We
has some chit chat and around 0900 Edie was up and
we were onto gift opening. For the 4 of us, we sure
had a ton of gifts under the tree- although
the Williams will tell you this was a small Christmas.
HAHAHAHA!
We were all spoiled and I had with the little sleep and plenty
of Bailey's, I probably wouldn't have minded had
I gotten nothing. After gifts it was onto Mimosas, which
are def going to be a Christmas morning tradition from
now on and waffles. YUM!
Then it was off to bed for me and Rhys and his folks
played with their new toys while I got some ZZZ's.
