Another one bites the dust

I can't believe that an entire year has gone by and now I'm 27... Crazy! I've been really focused on getting healthy for the upcoming year and while I'm still struggling with the diet portion, overall it has been going fairly well. I've taken the pressure off being super strict and it seems to have helped create a better balance this week. I'm avoiding treats as much as possible but not letting myself feel like a complete failure if I give here and there. While I realize that results will come faster if I cut everything out I also know that it isn't maintainable to do that for myself. I have been setting small goals. This week was to make healthy meals to take to work and get out for a run every other day. So far so good! Our fridge is full of healthy options and I picked 2 recipes to make large batches of to carry me through the working week. It has been helpful to have things made and ready to go. I discovered that it is better for me to go for my walk/jog FIRST thing in the morning. If I get comfy at home puttering around then home I will stay. I made some homemade energy bites for my drive to the perfect walk/jog spot along the river. It's great to be able to just let the dogs run and play and be dogs without me worrying where they have gone. It's so peaceful and everyone gets exercise at the same time! Perfect!

Pumpkin Energy bites

Raw Pumpkin seeds
Raw sunflower seeds
Shredded coconut {unsweetened}
Pistachios
Scottish Oats
Pumpkin seed butter
Protein powder {Vi shake mix}
Craisons

*I didn't measure anything. I threw all the nuts and seeds into a bowl, mixed the pumpkin seed butter in, sprinkled the protein powder and then mixed in the COOKED oats. The oats were the binding agent. Although it seems they could use some salt {and chocolate chips} they are very healthy without and it's great for a pre-workout grab in the morning*

Here I go

There is nothing like someone telling you that you can't or won't do something to give you
a little kick in the behind. It was just enough so set my alarm clock,
Actually wake up when it went off{instead of hitting snooze},
get on my running shoes, and head out the door with my furry little friends.
Millie and Eddie had a delightful time bounding through the snow as I went for a jog
{mostly a walk-but who's counting}
 Now I have some oatmeal in my belly, puppies tuckered out, coffee in hand and
off to Costco I go to fill our fridge with healthy things.

'Tis the Season

I loved this December 1st. We lucked out with it being a Saturday. We went out first thing in the morning to take some photos for the Christmas card. It is going to take some practice to perfect, but overall it was a success. At first I thought our photo attempt was a big old fail but once they were loaded on the computer, they weren't sooooo bad.
We then headed down to the market to get something for dinner. Mmmm Christmas Curry. Haha {Rhys skips the Mmmm part. Not his fav}
By the time we got back from the market we were both already getting a bit sleepy but thought we would power through. We lit a Christmas candle, turned on the tunes, and started to dress the tree. Well between my perfectionist ways and the lack of sleep... things went downhill. Luckily we salvaged the rest of the evening with a truce, some yummy dinner, and watched Lawless {Rhys' pick}
Overall, a perfect start to the season

Hello December 1st

I don't think I have ever been so excited for Christmas as I am this year.
I have no idea why, I just am.
We have been trying to get our Christmas cards ready to be sent out. I have a Monday deadline... EEKS
Anyways, Dec 1st means it's time for the wish list to get posted. Mine anyways... Rhys has been taking his sweet time.
I can't decide if this is a good thing {he is thoughtfully putting it together} or a bad thing {he just keeps adding and adding to it}
Time will tell I guess. Either way his will be here shortly. I've been working on mine for a few weeks. I realized in the last couple years that putting a list together isn't as selfish as I once thought. Mostly because I wish that others would follow suit.
As you get older it is harder and harder to but useful, thoughtful gifts that those you love would actually like.
Anywho... Hopefully the shopping for everyone else is made easy.

Minnetonka "Cali" slippers- size 9 { $50- little burgundy }
